Mark your calendars – Quentin Tarantino’s eagerly-anticipated ninth film now has a release date. As Variety reports, the still-untitled #9 is slated to hit theaters on August 9, 2019, the 50th anniversary of the Manson Family’s infamous Tate-LaBianca murders.
Details of Tarantino’s new script are closely guarded but the movie has been described in the trades as an ensemble period piece set against the tumult of 1969. With Hollywood abuzz about the picture’s plot possibilities, Tarantino cautioned, “It’s not Charles Manson, it’s 1969,” when discussing the focus of the project at a recent award-season brunch. After a heated bidding war, Sony will distribute. Harry Potter franchise whiz David Heyman, Tarantino, and Shannon McIntosh will produce, with Georgia Kacandes as executive producer and line producer. Several major stars are rumored to be circling the production.
