In addition to serving as owner and head programmer for the New Beverly Cinema, Quentin Tarantino is now writing about the films he’s selected to showcase on the big screen. In a fresh piece for the New Beverly blog, he writes about Henry Hathaway’s Shoot Out, a 1971 western from the creators of True Grit, highlighting the performances of Gregory Peck and the young Dawn Lyn, while finding “the most interesting part of the picture is how it predates Peter Bogdonovich’s Paper Moon by three years.” Read the whole post here and then see a gorgeous 35mm print of Shoot Out at the New Bev December 12th & 13th.
