Deadline is reporting a big new addition to Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Bruce Dern is re-teaming with his The Hateful Eight director to play George Spahn, the nearly blind 80-year-old owner of the once-popular western filming location Spahn Ranch, which would later become infamous as the primary residence of the Manson Family during the 1969 murders. Dern is taking over the role that was to be played by his longtime friend Burt Reynolds, following the film icon’s death on September 6th.
Tarantino’s 9th film, which has been described as a Pulp Fiction-esque ensemble piece set in Los Angeles during the tumultuous summer of 1969, is slated to hit theaters on July 26, 2019.
