In the lead-up to the release of The Hateful Eight, controversial best-selling author, screenwriter & personality Bret Easton Ellis (Less Than Zero, American Psycho) penned a profile piece in the New York Times on The Gonzo Vision of Quentin Tarantino, bonding with the filmmaker on their shared love of cinema and storytelling, and covering topics from the director’s impending western and famed film critic Pauline Kael to the differences between TV and the movies. The pair even catch a Charlie Chaplin double bill together at the New Beverly.
A few months later during The Hateful Eight press tour, Tarantino joined Ellis on the author’s popular podcast for an epic, nearly two hour follow-up to hang out and record a no-holds-barred discussion about Quentin’s newest, ’70s New Hollywood cinema, The Partridge Family and finding humor in outrageous film violence. It’s a highly entertaining listen.
