Blonde Ransom

Never-on-home-video ultra-rarity from director William Beaudine! When Duke Randall (Donald Cook) loses a bundle playing cards, he’ll have a week to come up with the $63,000 he owes or be forced to turn over his Broadway nightclub. And when he has a meet-crash car accident with lovely Vicki Morrison (Virginia Grey), he’ll confide his predicament. To score the cash she decides to fake her own kidnapping so that her rich uncle coughs up a ransom. But things get complicated when real kidnappers enter the mix. She hid out for fun… and held out for love! Co-starring Pinky Lee, noted 1950s kids-tv personality and proto-Pee-wee Herman.

The Crime of the Century

He couldn’t stop himself from committing The Crime of the Century! A desperate man confesses to a murder and pleads for the police to lock him up. The only problem? The horrific crime hasn’t even happened yet. But when a body turns up, the cops and a clever reporter will have to put the pieces together. Jean Hersholt (for whom the Academy’s Humanitarian Award is named) and Wynn Gibson star in a playful pre-code hypnotist whodunnit. Playing the newspaperman, Stuart Erwin reteams with his Make Me a Star director William Beaudine. Plus, a 60-second, William Castle-like break at the climax for the audience to guess the killer!
