Vanishing Point (w/ Author Robert M. Rubin)

While our allotment of advance tickets has sold out online, some additional tickets will be available to purchase at the door on a first come, first served basis on the night of the show. Box office & doors open approximately 1 hour before showtime. For shows that have sold out online, in-person ticket purchases are limited to 2 tickets per person.

We’re celebrating the release of the lavishly illustrated new book Vanishing Point Forever (RideWithBob/Film Desk Books) with writer Robert M. Rubin in person, schedule permitting, for a Q&A immediately following the film on Sunday, June 16. The author will be signing copies of the book, available for sale at the event from our friends at Skylight Books.

A monumental treat for anyone who loves film culture, Vanishing Point Forever explores the movie’s profound impact across popular media, the arts, and the car world in obsessive detail. Nearly 600 pages include a complete reproduction of the film’s final shooting script, pages from Cabrera Infante’s early drafts, his own location scouting photos (never seen before), and a gold mine of production and publicity stills, ephemera, excerpts, reflections and essays. Rubin details how the movie came to life — from stars Barry Newman, Cleavon Little, and Charlotte Rampling (so enigmatic she was cut from the main release); to the groundbreaking stunts coordinated by Hollywood legend Carey Loftin; to its unique, remarkable half-life. In the words of Sarafian, the film just “wouldn’t die.”

It’s the maximum trip… at maximum speed. Kowalski delivers cars faster than anyone. And his newest assignment is to get a 1970 Dodge Challenger from Denver to San Francisco by Monday. With legions of the law in hot pursuit and a disc jockey guiding his fate, the journey will quickly accelerate into the ultimate existentialist voyage. Tighten your seat belt.
