Comanche Territory
Maureen O’Hara stars as the beautiful yet feisty owner of the Crooked Tongue Saloon in the western Comanche Territory. Katie Howard (O’Hara) and her brother Stacey (Charles Drake) run the town and she is as skilled with a bullwhip as with a song and dance. However, she does have a soft side and it will surface for the handsome Jim Bowie (Macdonald Carey), famed frontiersman and inventor of the Bowie knife. Bowie comes to town with a treaty for the Comanches from President Jackson that guarantees them land ownership in exchange for silver-mining rights. When the treaty is stolen from its bearer (Will Geer), it jeopardizes an uneasy truce making the Comanche vulnerable to silver-hungry outlaws. What follows shakes Katie up even more than Bowie does – and thrusts her into an explosive battlefield between enemy lines! (Universal)
