Black Angel
Suspense and romance follow in Black Angel, a taut murder-mystery that winds its way through a maze of clues to a first-rate surprise ending. When a beautiful hard-boiled blackmailer is murdered in her swanky apartment, there are a number of men suspected. Coming into focus are Martin Blair (Dan Duryea), the drunken husband she’s dumped, a shady nightclub owner named Marko (Peter Lorre) and Kirk Bennett (John Phillips), a cheating married man. Ironically, it’s Bennett who was spotted at the crime scene and it’s his devoted wife, Catherine (June Vincent), who sets out to save him from being executed. Suspecting Marko, she teams up with Blair to perform in Marko’s club and race against time and unravel the mystery. (Universal)
