A nostalgic, heartfelt series of boyhood vignettes adapted from the blockbuster writing of Booth Tarkington, Penrod and Sam follows the titular boys and their neighborhood pals as they play, get into mischief, and embark on a series of childhood adventures. Director William Beaudine shows a deft hand at working with children (and a cute dog!), a gift that he would return to many times over his career.
