The award-winning screenwriter of The Bridge on the River Kwai and The Guns of Navarone, Carl Foreman, wrote, directed, and produced the sprawling, all-star World War II epic The Victors. The film follows a large ensemble of battle-weary American infantry soldiers in a series of vignettes, from fighting in Italy to uneasy peace in Berlin, interspersed with newsreel-type propaganda from back home that contradicts their grim reality. The movie’s monumental shoot filmed on location across Europe with an impressive cast that includes Vince Edwards, Albert Finney, George Hamilton, and George Peppard, as well as Jeanne Moreau, Romy Schneider, and Elke Sommer.
