Dreams have been a recurring theme in film from its earliest years, but in director William Castle’s hands, the question of what dreams mean becomes a terrifying story of the line between fantasy and reality in The Night Walker (1964). Barbara Stanwyck, in her final feature film, stars as a woman haunted by dreams of an imaginary lover – dreams that increase in intensity after her husband dies.
