The Big Tip Off

Film noir mainstay Richard Conte plays Johnny Denton, a mediocre newspaper writer, who begins receiving anonymous tips about gangland activities, and reports them in his column without sharing the information with the police. His refusal to reveal his source lands him in jail, but also expands his popularity, giving him long-sought clout. Ethical concerns will give way to more lethal problems when he learns why he was chosen to break these stories.
