Tim Burton brings us his vision of Washington Irving’s popular early 19th century folk tale, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” about socially awkward schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane, and his encounter with the legendary phantom, the Headless Horseman. One of Burton’s most imaginative films, the director draws on his childhood movie influences in a tribute to both Hammer Films horror and the macabre supernatural tales of Italian cinematic maestro, Mario Bava. Johnny Depp stars as Crane, with a huge supporting cast that includes Christina Ricci, Miranda Richardson, Michael Gambon and Jeffrey Jones. The film won the Oscar for Best Art Direction.
