She’s So Lovely

Released after years in a psychiatric hospital, Eddie (Sean Penn) returns home to find his ex-wife (Robin Wright) has a new husband (John Travolta). Undeterred, he vows to win her back. It’s a tumultuous romantic dramedy with stellar performances, written by John Cassavetes in 1987 but not filmed until a decade later by his son Nick.

“All of John Cassavetes’ prevalent themes are present in She’s So Lovely, a movie that belongs to his microscopic, brutally honest studies of relationships among husbands and wives, lovers and friends, individuals who love each other intensely but are incapable of connecting or expressing their feelings in an articulate manner.” – Emanuel Levy, Variety
