Regarded as one of the greatest films of all time, and just the second of three films to ever earn the Big Five Academy Awards, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is a landmark piece from the late, great director Miloš Forman. Based on the novel by Ken Kesey, One Flew follows charismatic criminal Randall McMurphy, who lands himself in a mental hospital and must adjust to a new normal: from enlivening the idiosyncratic patients, to clashing with the obstinate Nurse Ratched. The film stars Jack Nicholson and is supported by an all-star cast, including: Louise Fletcher, Will Sampson, William Redfield, Sydney Lassick, Danny DeVito, and with Brad Dourif and Christopher Lloyd in their debut roles.
“With One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Forman takes his rightful place as one of our most creative young directors. His casting is inspired, his sense of milieu is assured, and he could probably wring Academy Award performances from a stone.” – Arthur Knight, The Hollywood Reporter
“Jack Nicholson stars in an outstanding characterization of Ken Kesey’s asylum anti-hero, McMurphy, and Milos Forman’s direction of a superbly-cast film is equally meritorious.” – A.D. Murphy, Variety
