Veteran character actress Lurene Tuttle, who played significant supporting parts in everything from Psycho to The Ghost and Mr. Chicken to the Walking Tall trilogy, assays one of her rare leading roles as the unstoppable rural gang boss Ma Barker, leading her four sons through the South and Midwest on a rampage of crime and for-ransom kidnappings. Her brood also encounters such other famous outlaws as Baby Face Nelson, John Dillnger and Alvin Karpis (Paul Dubov) along the way.
“In order to make an exploitation masterpiece, writer/director Bill Karn wisely threw all the real life facts of the Barker gang to the wind… Not only are all the Barker boys and their ringleader mother here, but John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Machine Gun Kelly join their group, too. Ms. Tuttle gave her all in this film, despite its obvious low budget.” – Casey Scott, DVD Drive-In
