Hoodlum

In 1930s Harlem, ex-con Bumpy Johnson (Laurence Fishburne) returns to a life of crime and fights to keep the illegal numbers racket in Black hands and away from the Italian mafia invading his turf. While his old pal (Chi McBride) and his new girl (Vanessa Williams) try to steer their friend away from deadly terrain, a brewing rivalry with mobsters Lucky Luciano (Andy Garcia) and Dutch Schultz (Tim Roth) threatens to engulf everyone in a brutal gang war. Fishburne reunites with his Deep Cover director Bill Duke for a finely detailed criminal character study with a stellar supporting cast and a script from Narcos-creator Chris Brancato.
