The day they hung Jed Cooper, they made two mistakes: they hung the wrong man, and they didn’t finish the job. After getting rescued from his attempted hanging, Jed Cooper (Clint Eastwood) becomes a U.S. Marshal, determined to bring his nine would-be executioners to justice. Because Cooper doesn’t always see eye-to-eye with Judge Fenton (Pat Hingle), who seems to have a penchant for punishment, he must navigate the thin line between right and retaliation.
