Rob Zombie escapes expectations to bring us his best, most powerful film. Stylishly shot on 16mm, Halloween II picks up two years after the first left off, with Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton) struggling to re-assemble her life following the traumatic family reunion. But as the haunted holiday approaches again, the unstoppable killer starts his pilgrimage home. Zombie makes the movie totally his own, diverting from the franchise to focus on the aftermath of brutal violence, packing the runtime with nightmarish dream logic and music video visuals. It’s definitely worth your reconsideration.
