Writer/director Preston Sturges reunites with The Miracles of Morgan’s Creek star Eddie Bracken for one of the greatest wartime satires ever released. When Woodrow Truesmith (Bracken) leaves his home town to follow in his war hero father’s footsteps, he’s promptly discharged from the military due to his chronic hay fever. Too embarrassed to return home so quickly, he decides to dupe his family & friends with fabricated stories from the front. But complications ensue when they Hail the Conquering Hero upon his return.
