It’s Dolemite meets The Road Warrior in this off-the-wall blaxploitation musical featuring some of the most outlandish costumes and headgear you’ve ever seen on the big screen. Former Bond girl Trina Parks stars as Syreena, head of the three-wheeled motorcycle girl gang the Darktown Strutters, who ass-kicks her way to finding her missing mother along with many other disappeared black community leaders. This movie’s got the full menu: bone suckin’ ribs, pot-laced ice cream bars, blackface minstrel shows, KKK invading an amusement park, a millionaire in a hog suit, and cloning. Halfway through this film, Dick Miller puts handcuffs on a dog, and that’s less than half as weird as things can get! Don’t be thrown by it’s unbelievable wackiness though, as the film couches within it a robust racial satire, making it a forerunner of current black genre milestones like Get Out and Sorry to Bother You.
