A Man Called Tiger

MUST-SEE MARTIAL ARTS MAYHEM!! Originally intended as the third team-up with Bruce Lee and director Lo Wei following The Big Boss and Fist of Fury, A Man Called Tiger was ultimately headlined by another martial arts megastar, Jimmy Wang Yu, becoming one of the superstar’s most beloved (and most violent!!) films. Wang Yu plays a Chinese stranger in Tokyo, moving his way up the Yakuza ladder in a quest to uncover those responsible for his father’s murder. He looks cool, acts cocky, talks shit, and kicks ass. Wang Yu superfan Quentin Tarantino has enthusiastically exclaimed that A Man Called Tiger “looks like a Japanese Yakuza film, plays like an Italian gangster film, and has the fight every ten minutes pace of a Hong Kong chop socky pic,” featuring a blood drenched finale that’s “on par with the climax of DePalma’s Scarface and the Candyland shoot out in Django Unchained.”
