Box Office Milestone

In only its third weekend at the box office, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood has fought off competition and crossed the $100 million domestic box office threshold, joining Jordan Peele’s Us as only the second original, non-sequel / franchise / spin-off film of the year to break that mark. In addition to its impressive Stateside haul, Hollywood performed spectacularly in its first overseas opening, grossing $7.7 million dollars in its Russian debut.

“This is more evidence that Leonardo DiCaprio is the last old-school movie star we’ve got. This is more evidence that Quentin Tarantino is a butts in the seats marquee director, especially when he’s got big movie stars and/or razzle-dazzle in his corner.” – Scott Mendelson, Forbes
