School of Rock
In the role he was born to play, Jack Black is Dewey Finn, a slacker guitar player still holding on to the dream of being a rock star. Due to a mix-up (and a low-level con), the wildly unqualified Dewey ends up substitute teacher in a prestigious elementary school. He recruits the bored prep school kids to form a new band, so these talented kids can rock the battle of the bands like it’s never been rocked before. This hilariously quoteable contemporary classic made Jack Black a superstar. And of course, it’s got a killer rock n rock soundtrack featuring songs from Led Zeppelin, Cream, T. Rex and the Black Keys, not to mention the original anthems performed by the kids themselves. Let’s get rockin!
“If quirky, independent, grown-up outsider filmmakers set out to make a family movie, this is the kind of movie they would make. And they did.” – Roger Ebert
