Burl Ives’ Birthday

Burl Ives (June 14, 1909 – April 14, 1995) – as a supremely successful singer, Ives recorded more than 40 albums, while as an actor, he earned an Oscar for his supporting role in The Big Country (1958). But he is perhaps best remembered today as the voice of Sam the Snowman, the narrator for the Rankin/Bass annual holiday classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964).
