François Truffaut (February 6, 1932 – October 21, 1984) – the internationally-celebrated French New Wave filmmaker behind such landmark classics as The 400 Blows (1959), Shoot the Piano Player (1960), Jules et Jim (1961), Day for Night (1973) and more.
