A television network on the verge of a major modern upgrade (“electronic brains” aka computers) serves as the backdrop for the last romantic comedy pairing of Hepburn & Tracy (they would go on to make one more film together, the drama Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner). Hepburn plays Bunny Watson, the network’s research librarian, who is involved with one of the executives, Mike Cutler (Gig Young). Change is in the air, not only at the network, but also in the romance department as Richard Sumner (Spencer Tracy) appears to implement his invention EMERAC (Electromagnetic Memory and Research Arithmetical Calculator). Of note, Phoebe and Henry Ephron, who are the parents of acclaimed writer/director Nora Ephron, wrote the screenplay.

“Miss Hepburn, Mr. Tracy, an eager cast and well-turned jokes and situations that the lot of them nimbly play.” – Bosley Crowther, The New York Times
